Artells Magazine Cover

This was what i woke up to this morning, an email from Artells Magazine alerting me that images i submitted had been accepted…ON THE COVER!!! I am absolutely over the moon! This is a huge step in my photography/studio journey. Yesterday I was photographing my co workers in my studio. I lost my tripod somewhere, my back up tripod took an adaptor plate that i did not have, they wanted gray background instead of white so my shooting bay got just that much tighter and with 4 people and a dog, it was impossible. Plus i was taking the pictures with me in them so i had to use a remote shutter release. The air conditioning was not working, it was blazing hot and i have to say my boss is not patient at all. So i felt rushed, sweaty and like a complete failure. The group shots were pure shit, the headshot was beautiful and the pictures of us wearing hats (2 person shots) were adorable…Oh and the dog took amazing pictures! I don’t like feeling like i don’t know what I’m doing and getting direction from someone who knows far less is even worse….. So today I wake up, get to work and start checking emails. What do I see but this Image of the children i photographed last year. I had sent the images to Artells thinking maybe they’d like them…They put them on the cover of the June Kids edition. The knowledge that I do know what I am doing, I’m not a failure by any means and not every shoot is going to smash it. My studio is not big enough to have 4 adults and a dog photographed in it. But, my studio is perfect for kids, portraiture, headshots. Just had to share that…Happy shooting people!
